Darion stands at 6’2” tall, with an athletic build that shows he takes plenty time to stay in shape, though he may just barely be able to keep up with his own marines. His skin is the normal Caucasian completion, being a ship captain he rarely has a chance to actually get any tan. At least he doesn't look pasty, or an albino. His hair is dark brown with strong features. his face has a couple small scars from injuries earned during the pirate raid that gave him command of a ship.

History:
Very few people know who his mother is, and the most they know was that his father he went missing from a pirate raid on a human merchant ship. His body was not found on that merchant ship, but was found on the pirate ship that the patrol group had found and raided. Darion was found as a toddler in his father’s arms. It looked like the pirates had been trying to kill them both.
After the recovery from the pirate ship, Darion was lucky enough to actually not spend much of his childhood in social services or in an orphanage. Barely a year later he was adopted by a family that couldn’t have any children, the ‘father’ he ended up growing up around was a military family as the father of the family was in the Navy, a career officer and captain of a cruiser class ship at the time. Darion grew up in New York on Earth after he was adopted for a few years. His mother was a civilian.
Most of his school life was spent with him focused on sports, being a jock, minus the assholish tendencies that are usually associated with people who only spend their time with sports. Not that he ever really had any issues with the academic portion of school, usually earning a 3.4 grade point average. Most of his teachers always seemed to note that he could get better if he usually just applied himself more.
Around the time he was 16, with his father’s promotion to an Admiral, he and his mother were moved to the Citadel to be closer to his adoptive father as he became more almost permanently stationed there as a commander of a warship battle group on a Battleship. The first time he saw a capital ship’s weapon’s used in a test firing while scuttling an old ship. Soon after that display, Darion actually asked what had happened to his father, who his real parents were. He had known he was adopted for a while as he didn’t look like either of his parents, and had brown hair while they were blonde and red. It was cemented that he wanted to become a starship captain to be able to command such amazing ships, and also to hunt down pirates who cause so much pain to people, and protect citizens of all the worlds.
And after seeing the Academy and officer requirements, he truly began to apply himself to school to be able to join the Naval Academy. He entered the academy at 17 after a little help from his adopted father, and taking enough credits to graduate. With a recommendation letter from an Admiral, it was easy for him to get into the academy.
He spent the next 2 Years at the academy learning the basics of leadership as an officer, and the basics of most bridge stations. But specifically, he himself got into classes of advanced weapons theory, and starship operations and combat tactics. This of course went along with the 8 weeks of basic military training before the Academy started his training. During his short years here, the instructors said he was intelligent, but reckless, and apparently lacking most leadership qualities beyond some selflessness. Another note was that he seemed to enjoy flirting with the female classmates and enjoying some partying and apparent disregard for the structure of command. After the Academy, he ended up getting his first station as a weapons officer, ranked a Lieutenant Junior grade, on the frigate ‘Furious’. An older Frigate built around the time of the human race locating the Citadel.
Over the next few years he spent time on this ship, mostly in boring safe zone patrol, and a couple actions against pirates and raiders. It was a rather boring beginning to a career, but that only lasted a little while until the largest event in his career. In his time on the ships, his disregard for higher command than him was obvious, though he was very good at his job. The only real reason he continued to get promoted was because he was good at his job, and continued to learn more in his off hours with what he can access on the net.
When he was 25, at the rank of Lieutenant Commander, he had been transferred to the destroyer HMS Thermopylae to fill the open weapons control position on the command crew. His station was the weapons control on the bridge, and in turn the one in charge of the weapons themselves on the ship. This was a position that he had wanted on a ship that had survived many larger conflicts. That had a history of victory and survival thanks to great captains. The only thing better would be him some day getting to command the ship.
It was at this position, around a year total, when the patrol squad the ship was in charge of got ambushed by a fleet of pirates lead by a lieutenant from a larger pirate organization. They wanted the destroyer.
The patrol group was lured in by a distress call from a personnel transport. The destroyer and it’s two frigate escorts arrived at the location of the transport to find the thing holed through, though there were still life signs detected on the ship. Two of the dropship with marines and the third in command to try to recover any survivors. As soon as the dropships docked and found the ‘survivors’, over a dozen pirate ships of multiple different designs. Among them was what looked like a Cruiser class warship.
The survivors, once they were located, were nothing more than beacons strapped to bodies of the men of the crew, to lure the marines from the target ship. As soon as the pirates exited phase space, they opened fire. First on the transport ship to finish off the marines that had boarded it, then on the Navy ships before their shields could be brought fully online. In the process of the battle, the captain and XO were taken out of commission. First the captain in the initial assault was incapacitated by his console exploding.
Then the XO when the ship was boarded. After the captain was taken to the med bay, and the ensuing battle. The navy ships were disabled and summarily destroyed. First the pirates deployed specialized beacons that create an energy field to prevent ships from entering Phase space to escape. Then, when the Furious was destroyed, the debris from the explosion disabled the Thermopylae’s sub-light engines. Allowing the cruiser to actually dock with the Destroyer to begin boarding.
The XO died while repelling the pirates. This left Darion as the highest ranking officer on the ship, and the one in command. The full stress of the situation, the chance of death, and the responsibility of having all the crew’s lives on his hands. This all together, pushed Darion into finally showing he could be a leader. In the end, he was responsible for saving the rest of the crew and the second frigate who had been their escort. Upon his order, the remaining marines, little more than a fire team of 4 and the Gunnery Sergeant took a spacewalk from the destroyer to the hull of the cruiser… and then vented the bridge with explosives planted on the plasti-steel windows. Soon after they disabled the ship through the bridge controls, and disengaged the boarding clamps with the Thermopylae.
With the cruiser out of commission, soon followed by the phase dampeners that prevented ships to enter phase space and send out communications. Reinforcements arrived in time to clean up the remaining pirate ships, or send them running. With the help of marines from the reinforcing ship, they finally captured and repelled the pirate boarders from the ship. But after the battle, it took days of repairs before the destroyer was able to move again or enter phase space. It would need to be in space dock for repairs for at least a year. Perfect time for modifications, and the planned upgrades to the old ship.
In that year, Darion was assigned as the temporary XO for a cruiser to give him some experience before the one who was meant to take that position could be placed. This was to give him some more leadership experience. For the first time, when the captain woke up from his injuries, and reviewed the data, the captain was impressed. He was the one who wrote the recommendation letter for Darion even though he didn’t like the man. He was willing to entrust the Thermopylae to Darion after he had saved the ship and at least half the crew while the captain had failed. With this recommendation as well, darion was approved to be given the rank of Commander, the rank needed to command a destroyer class ship.
Thanks to that letter, Darion now finds himself sitting at the bridge of a newly modified and upgraded Thermopylae, with a new military top of the line Athena Class AI. Upgraded weapons and core, and engines. He finally has his dream of being a captain of a ship.

As of current date and time, due to this woman raising to a point where she has taken command of a pirate syndicate. This was supported by her successful theft of a Human navy Battleship which she used to ‘remove’ the previous leader from power about 10 years ago. She also has multiple children, including one that is a CEO of a successful defense contracted company, who secretly supported her mother with a way to sell off any loot, or ships they don’t want. She had also set up a base of operations on a planet whose location is hidden from all official governments. Where slaves are taken as slave labor in any and all possible jobs you can think to break or use them when they are not sold on the black market in other areas of space.
What Darion does not know is that a brother of his was the commander of the cruiser that tried taking the Thermopylae and died upon Darion’s order. He also does not know that his mother has actually kept track of where he has gone and what he has done since the ship she had him on was taken. The only reason he was on that ship and not with her was because he was being transported back to a pirate station to meet her before going back to the stronghold. After she was to steal the battleship that propelled her to such great heights.
