Humans have always been the great pioneers of this or that, but space was their greatest pioneer yet. Back in 1957 the first man made object was sent out into space, and from there the technology rapidly expanded. From the time it took to launch the first person into space to the time it took to reach the nearest star system was shorter than the time between Jesus and Y2K. After 2020's trip to Mars mankind began expanding research to reach the far ends of the solar system. By 2070 the would have made it to the moons of Jupiter and could return home with no problem. Humanity began colonizing the solar system. In 2104 the great resource war broke out in Europe with Russia taking the largest blow, China bought the entire country out and began creating the first steps into the Eastern Empire.
Shortly after in 2144 Europe would decline and the UK would extend its power by sending aid and buying out countries creating the Kingdoms. The resource war came to a close in 2176 when ships near Mercury found the source of Dark Matter and found it more plausible for powering personal crafts like ships and cars than solar power. By 2200 the UK announced the joining of Germany, France, Italy and smaller countries in that zone forming the Kingdom. During the space race of the 23rd century Japan fell into economic collapse having expended more resources on colonizing the stars than up-keeping their country. China quickly gathered aid to rise the country from collapsing, new politics were placed at the head of Neo-Japan which lead it to a huge economic boost. By 2250 Hong Kong became known as Nu-Hong Kong and became the capital of the Eastern Empire.
2344 North and South America become one entity bought out by the United States Government. A pact is signed by the American Dominion and the Kingdom forming the Western Legion. By 2350 the Spanish Republic joins the Western Legion. At the end of the century the first Phase-drive was created allowing space travel across the solar system in minutes. The invention of the Hawking rapidly increased the possibilities of leaving the solar system. Within 20 years the first space jump occurs to a distance star system only ten light years away. The voyage takes several weeks but the ship arrives in one piece. It begins the Space-Faring period. Humanity begins colonizing the distant star system in 2438.
The first world in the star system to be colonized is mined for its resources as the planet is too arid to populate logically. During mining operations in 2440 a alien object is found, the beacon. Several months of study reveals the beacon to have a direct hyperspace jump to a location nearly 30 light years from earth. The AD Eagle syncs with the beacon and phase-jumps to the coordinates using the beacons power, they arrive within a days time to a space station, the Citadel. Humanity claims the Citadel in 2441 after research deems it completely safe for populating. By 2444 the Citadel's hyperspace routes are unlocked creating gateways to distant star systems. These hyperspace routes use the Citadels power to propel them extremely quickly across the galaxy to a location in a fraction of the time it would normally take. 2450 the human council is set up with two representatives from the Western Legion and two from the Eastern Empire.
2477 the first contact with alien life comes when the Turian flagship Nihil enters Citadel space. Turian ambassadors enter the citadel and attempt to converse with the human council. Turian and human scientists devise ways to communicate between species with a special implant that allows the Turians to genetically download the human common language, English. Turians begin to populate citadel space the humans allow the Turian ambassador to represent their people and set up in the embassy wards. Asari and Twi'lek contact comes soon after in 2480. The Asari quickly adapt to the human language, the human language becomes the social norm. By 2499 a number of other alien races have been discovered through space exploration from the citadel. 2500, the plot begins here.
