Neмo is the unification of many underground organizations and hacktivists, united under the single name and the mysterious individual and skilled tactician and hacker known as the Mμsε. They target corruption in governments and organizations, as well as the withholding of 'top secret' or 'classified' information from the common people. While some consider them to be modern-day Robin Hoods or 'Freedom Fighters,' they have been known to engage in cyber warfare, extortion, kidnapping, and even the occasional assassination or bombing.

Neмo first appeared in the early 2480's, the result of several smaller organizations (such as the human group Anonymous) being brought together under their new leader, the Mμsε. They were quick to gain the attention due to their tendency to hack news broadcasts and play their own messages, often revealing some aspect of corruption or some top secret information being withheld from the population. Neмo members (often called Nobodys) are mostly anonymous, preferring to attack their targets quickly and from a distance. There have been a few high-profile incidents that have resulted in the capture of certain members, but due to their lack of internal structure save for orders given to members by the Mμsε, it was near impossible to identify members outside out their own personal circle.

As more races have joined together, officials have assumed that the number of Neмo members had only increased, though as always, they use their anonymity as a weapon. Any information on the organization as a whole, such as their numbers, high-level supporters, or any hidden agendas remains speculation and conjecture.

    ⊣ about_safehouses:

Safehouses are establishments where members of Neмo are welcomed. They often serve as gathering areas for members when a task is given. Safehouses either bear a symbol, often disguised as something else, but not so much where members won't notice it, or are guarded with a password. The owners of these establishments are usually not full members, but sympathizers to the cause.

Not actually members of Neмo, sympathizers agree with the cause but do not sign up with the organization. They instead lend assistance when they can however they can, often by providing supplies, information, and turning their establishments into safehouses, and that is usually more than enough for full members of Neмo.

Ground members are a part of the organization that tend not to deal with the cyberwarfare attacks. They are the people "on the ground" (the origin of the term, actually) so to speak, often moving supplies and orchestrating events that occur out of the 'net. That doesn't mean they interact independently from the net members, though. In most cases the ground members supply the net members with the tools they need to get stuff done. When things require the presence of an actual person, the ground members are more than often the ones there, though there are plenty of members who switch in-between the two categories.

While when it comes to hierarchy there is no difference between a ground and net member, it is still important to tell the difference. Net members are the hackers and other electronics experts of Neмo, and considering that cyber attacks make up a good portion of the group's activities, their role is vital. Not only do they engage in acts of so-called "cyber terrorism," but they often gather information for the ground members. When extortion, information retrieval, or anything requiring knowledge of technology is needed, the net members are the one you go to.
