Nizzal entered the ship and looked around trying to get a sense of where she was so that she didn't get lost later on, she was quite surprised that she was even hired for the job considering the number of people trying to find a job. Even though she did join the military they told her that she needed to find a crew that would hire her first...that was quite difficult because the captains of the various space ships were lecherous old bastards who just wanted to have a feel of her ass.
So imagine her surprised when she came upon the Midori and found that the captain was a female one, that was very rare in this part of the universe and Nizzal tried her luck with them. And soon enough she was hired on as a tactical officer under the USS Midori. "Not a bad ship...quite ingenious actually," she said to herself while trailing her fingers down the walls.

Tori and Genius were walking down the corridor on their way to the launch bay, Genius holding a datapad in hand and going over the recent changes to the armory before they prepared to take off.
“The armory is now refitted to make room for every crewman personal armor and weapons. Phasers are now operational and the tractor beam is up to performance and photon torpedoes are ready to be loaded up and launched at your command.”
“It sounds like you're expecting a skirmish,” stated Tori.
“Permission to be frank?” asked Genius as the two came to a stop in front of the launch bay doors.
“You never needed permission before,” joked Tori.
“We know very little about this universe and very little about how effective our weapons and systems will prove to be against what's out there. If we're not prepared with the weapons we have now we won't last long.”
“I understand completely. Should the time come we'll be ready, until then let's try to stay positive. Expect the worst, hope for the best as my mother would say.”
The launch bay doors came opened and the two entered the large lower part of the room: There they saw Nizzal Shala, one of the new recruits recently enlisted on to the Midori.
“Ms. Shala, I presume. It's a pleasure to meet you.”
Tori smiled and lend her hand for a shake in greeting as Genius put away her datapad to give the new recruit her attention.
“I'm Captain Tori Jacobs and this is our Head Tactician, The Genius. You'll be reporting to her during your time aboard.”
“Charmed.”

Nizzal turned to see a red haired woman and another woman greeting her, this job was getting better and better...two female officers. She could come to love this job as she smiled, "It's a pleasure to meet you too captain, thank you for allowing me to join your crew," she replied shaking her hand as she turned towards Genius and nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well Genius, I will do my utmost best to help and serve you," Nizzal replied.

“Don't mention it,” replied Tori, glad to see some more enthusiasm around here.
“Your main station will be in the armory making sure everything remains in tip top condition for away missions and should we ever enter red alert. You may also be summoned to the bridge to take my station should I require it. Do I make myself clear?”
“We can take you to your quarters now if you need to unpack. Crew quarters aren't too far from here.”

Nizzal turned towards her commanding officer and nodded making herself a little bit more presentable, "Yes ma'am I understand," good thing she joined the military. The armory job wouldn't be that hard, she knew all about the weapons that was ever made and she was a pretty good shot with her two blasters as well. Not to mention that she was pretty fast with the sword as well...years of fighting bullies and boys made her tough and flexible. She looked at Shephard and nodded, "If it's not too much trouble I wouldn't mind," she replied.

“Right this way.”
“I have some last minute inspections to go over with our shuttlecrafts, so I will see you both later.”
Tori bid The Genius farewell and began leading Nizzal out of the launch bay, catching a warning glare from The Genius, as if she expected the captain to do something inappropriate with the new crewman while being alone at her quarters. Tori waved it off, knowing that she had way more integrity than that as they exit into the corridor.
“When we get to your quarters I can show you how to access the computer to display a map of the ship so you can memorize the ship's schematics. I assume your flight up went all right? I know those shuttlecrafts can be a bit bumpy.”

Nizzal nodded and followed the captain to her quarters though she did notice the warning glare from the tactical officer...she wondered what that was about, but put it out of her mind as she continued to follow her. She memorised the layout of the ship quickly and tried to commit it to memory; after all what was a tactical officer good for if she couldn't remember anything about the ship itself? The captain then talked to Nizzal as she nodded, "Very well I'll have a look at the display and memorise the layout quickly," she said before smirking a bit about the shuttlecrafts, "I went alright...I'm used to such things, military training could give you a pretty good tolerance of bumpy rides."

It was a small silver room with bunk bed on one sites and a table with a sink in the other. A locker, mirror and a bathroom in the other room. A small computer near the end of the bed. It wasn't much but it was more than adequate for the crew.
“I can imagine. Where on Genesis did you train?”

A simple room, that's what all Nizall needed. Simplicity was always the best when you were in the military, too much lavish things and you tend to not like the simple things making it hard on the field. But then again Nizall has always been surrounded by simple things so she didn't complain when she entered her bunk, "It looks nice, simple...I like simple..." she commented before turning to Tori, "where did I train? Fort Codis was where I trained...they tried to make me go to the male boot camp, but I told them that I would rather spend time with women then stinking men," she said with a barking laugh.

Tori raised an eyebrow at the boot camp comment. She didn't know many boot camps that insisted you be trained with the boys unless it was a unified one, which both Kari and Hallowton possessed as they truly believed in equality and that there was no gender on the battlefield. Otherwise they had separate camps for each gender. Didn't look like she had a high opinion on men either. That could be a problem...
“We do have men aboard this ship. A couple of them are even on the senior staff. Is that going to be a problem?”

Of course...it would have been too much to hope that the ship would be all female, but she was happy with a female captain and therefore she would put up with it. "I do not mind, I will act professional at all times, however if they start harassing me and their hands end up in an undesirable place then I must act...I hope you understand."

“You do what you have to and then report to me. Last thing I need are men on my ship who don't know how to keep their hands to themselves.”
While Tori did perform a background check on those among her crew, you never knew what someone would do until they did it. When people wanted to keep secrets they were usually pretty good at it where it count. The only people she trusted completely were those on her senior staff, it was the main reason they were on her senior staff.
“Those on the senior staff shouldn't give you any trouble.”
Then she remembered Nex was on the senior staff.
“For the most part.”

"I'm glad to hear that," Nizzal replied genuinely glad to hear that Tori ran a tight ship. Discipline was an important factor in military lifestyle and Nizzal appreciated such a thing; discipline was a big thing for Nizzal though she was still a little bit worried about the men. "Is there anything I should know about how you run the ship? Muster? Drills etc?" she asked.

Tori shook her head in response.
“We expect you up first thing in the morning and at your post on time. The mess hall has plenty of healthy organic food to choose from and you should get plenty of exercise in space.”
Especially if they ran into the trouble that The Genius was so certain they would. It was most likely inevitable just following Genesis' track record in anything that they seek to accomplish, but Tori liked to think about the positive more than the negative.
“Do you have everything you need here?”

So in other words like basic training. Nizzal trained herself to be a morning person to avoid the rush and fumble of recruits waking up and standing to attention...it had been the envy of the other recruits. She didn't mind what food she ate, she could live on military rations if needed, funny how it seemed she was suited to life in the military. She shook her head in response to Tori's question, "No ma'am I'll be quite alright," she said, "thank you for showing me the way. I really appreicate it."
