A New Purpose (Open)

[Jess]

"Fair 'nough," she said, the following question came from Councilor Ishahiro, his accent was typically harsh on his words similar to how most Japanese men adapted to the English nature, but he was very fluent having spoke it all his life, "You have an impressive ship and I imagine the ships you fly with are impressive as well. You say you wish for peace and I can only assume by showing yourself here alone you wish to show honor and respect for our wishes. So I will assume you aren't looking for a fight. I will assume however, you are here for a reason. What is that reason? Are you exploring like most? Have you too found a beacon that has lead you here or is there something more?"

He wasn't the only one to present a question, Councilor Jin Bu followed his question, "What are your long term goals?"

The questions were not what he expected, it seemed that the Council showed honour towards those that showed no threat to them. That was a good thing in Asura's book, most of the time they immediately went to the question about his technology and what they possessed. That was always a warning bell to him that they did not have honourable intentions, but he would need to listen and watch more as he became humble, "Thank you, the ships that I possess are actually military fleets though I think you all know that. The one that is docked within your citadel is our flagship, the Orion, while the others are what you would classify as frigates. As to our goals...we were once a group of people who wanted to protect Gaea, however certain...events...made us move away from the place and we are now finding a new cause to serve. A worthy one, defending the innocent and protecting the peace. That was what we were initially all about. Our long term goals is to settle in on a place and protect it from any threats that might try to attack it."

Churchill spoke next, "Ah yes, there are plenty of planets out there that are empty of life yet could indeed support them," he spoke in such a way as if the man standing on the platform was beneath him, yet it was just his manners weren't up to par, that was when Councilor Short stepped in, "As he says, there are many worlds out there. Some like our home planet full of life others that haven't evolved to an extent yet support life. If it's a world you're looking to claim and protect there are plenty to choose from outside of Citadel control."

Councilor Ishahiro spoke next, "I think Councilor Short speaks ahead of herself, we still haven't an idea of who these people-"

Councilor Jin Bu silenced Ishahiro by slamming his hand on the rail in front of him, "These people are like any other Councilor Ishahiro, they are like the Turian, the Asari, the Twi'lek, the Vulcan, they are like all of them, they can occupy any space given to them so long as they follow the rules of that space. They will need to be brought up to speed on our laws and on our credit system. If they have anything of value to trade for currency they can do so."

Ishahiro lowered his head, it was obvious that two of the councilors standing before Asura were only there to fill space while Councilor Short and Councilor Jin Bu called the shots. Miss Short spoke next, "He is right. I expect your people will be willing to read through our laws and present themselves to the alien life of the citadel in such a way that they will be welcomed? I can expect outbursts but I would strongly adhere against them for a trial period before you are given full access to the living terms under citadel law.

"If your people can agree to our conditions then we can agree to accept you into our joint family of races and work out the terms in which you may protect or populate a planet."

Gina crossed her arms and leaned against the railing next to her shaking her head at Councilor Ishahiro.

[Asura]

Asura considered this for a moment, a planet to claim for themselves, a planet where the other Demi-Gods would be able to live on in peace and harmony with the other species. That would be quite a beneficial thing, a great thing in fact, they would no longer need to wander from place to place looking for a cause...they can just live out their lives on the planet and provide support to the Council; if that is indeed what they want considering there is nothing that is free in any galaxy. It was a great news, and although a Council member showed disapproval the others were much more willing to give the Shinkoku nation a chance to live alongside the other alien species.

But then the question came of what would they trade? They had no resources to speak of...they could provide cybernetic enhancements, but those were only used for military purposes and very few humans would survive the process. So was it their technology? Asura was worried about what would happen if they were asked about their technology, they had the power to literally destroy an entire planet via the Absolution Cannons...if they learned of it..."I thank you for your generosity, however we have nothing of value to trade except for our cybernetic enhancements; and I fear that very few people would be able to survive the processes. We can work as a military force, defending the Capital...but other than that there is little of value that we can trade with the other alien species."

[Jess]

Councilor Short smiled, "You don't need to trade your belongings, we're not here to accept tribute, it was just an option to give you a foothold ahead of where you'll be at now. The fact is, no one lives free, it's a sad truth, your people will have to be burdened with working to earn their pay. I am sure we can set something up though, having extra protection on the space routes and around the Citadel may be your calling to earn some money for your people to kick start your economy here."

Councilor Jin Bu followed her statement, "I may be curious about these implants but she is correct in her statement, if you can find a way to come to terms to work your way into this setting you will be welcomed. It wouldn't take long for us to collaborate some sort of additional defenses throughout the sectors while your people may freely come and go from the citadel. In short it's a small debt that will be repaid generously."

There was a noise from the door behind Asura and the council door was unlocked a small man came into the room wheeling a crate in. He stopped at the stairs and enabled the hover lift bringing up to the stairs just behind the platform Asura stood on. The man opened the crate.

"In that crate," began Councilor Jin Bu, "are several data drives with information detailing the history of many nations of many people. It lists known sectors and hostiles you may come across. As a token of good faith the crate has been filled with assorted goods you may find on the Citadel. You may spread the information among your people, it includes our laws and rights under the citadel rule and many other things that you'll need to know as a new race to the galaxy."

Short smiled, "Welcome to the Milky Way."

Well that went better than expected. They would not need to run away from those that wished to harm people with their weapons, they would be able to hide the secret of their technology and at the same time be finally able to settle down and live on a planet. That would be a wonderful news to everyone especially his daughter as he bowed, "Thank you Council...I did not expect to be able to earn a planet, the Shinkoku nation is indebted to the Citadel," Asura said already thinking of what needed to be done for them to properly settle in. It would take a long time before everyone would be able to settle down on the planet as further discussions about what they could and could not give to the Council would be discussed among them.

The crate that contained the data drives were given to Asura as he accepted them, "Again thank you, but if you would allow me to tell my people about this wonderful news and discuss among them what we can share out it would be much appreciated," he told them before he was allowed to leave the area. He was glad at this new development...but whether or not it would prove to be a boon or a curse...only time would tell.
