Current Galaxy Standing: Tier 3
This is borrowed and edited to fit our galaxy from the Halo universe. Considering our universe works similar to many different verses it will be our scale of measuring the TAT.
Tier 7: Pre-Industrial
Tier 7 is one of the most common and stable states, with limited weaponry and environmental threats. Societies tend to be small and scattered, driven by subsistence farming, foraging, or hunter-gathering needs. Technology is limited to simple hand made tools, weapons, or agrarian implements and methods, but a very broad understanding of planetary and solar mechanics is not uncommon.
Tier 6: Industrial Age
Tier 6 is often the pinnacle for a civilization. Agrarian societies can remain stable in the pre-industrial stage, but Tier 6 population strain and mechanized food production invariably create political and economic pressures very few can balance. Moving past this usually promises advancement. Some societies improve environmental and medical understanding concurrently with mechanical and transport advancement. Those that do not are frequently doomed.
Humanity entered this Tier in 1781, with the advent of steam technology.
Tier 5: Atomic Age
Tier 5 species usually begin focusing on clean energy production. The occasional belligerent species will use atomic energy for weapons, often resulting in mass extinctions. In-atmosphere craft are a hallmark, often leading to manned space flight, albeit in a short-scale.
Humanity entered this age in 1945, when the first atomic bombs were deployed, with manned space travel being accomplished for the first time in 1961.
Tier 4: Space Age
Tier 4 is often the final resting place for species intelligent enough to break free from their cradle's surface only to fill the gulf surrounding it with war. Their comfort-focused technology can include medical advances.
Humanity reached this level in 1957, when the first artificial satellite was launched.
Tier 3: Space-Faring
The current tech level of the Human race and the majority of known races in the galaxy. Tier 3 civilizations have control over Phase-space navigation and advanced weapons. They can create efficient AI's and can travel the verse in a matter of days.
Humanity reached this level in 2440 when it made it to the first beacon that lead them to the citadel.
Tier 2: Interstellar
Travel with phase-space takes a matter of a couple days to a few hours over distances that would take weeks. Weapons and shields are advanced and the understanding of the dark matter energy source is much more advanced. Ships can exit phase-space at exact coordinates and can enter phase-space at a much higher rate.
No known society is at Tier 2, the Autobots and Vasari were formerly tier 2 societies until their collapses.
Tier 1: World Builders
The species has the ability to manipulate gravitational forces, create AI with full sentience, fabricate super-dense materials, perform super-accurate phase-space navigation, the ability to create life, and the ability to create worlds. Tier 1 societies may be able to create the anomaly rift drive which will allow them to instantly teleport star ships from one location to another in a matter of seconds.
No current society is Tier 1, it is thought that the society that built the citadel was a Tier 1 society. Not much has been uncovered about them or the mysteries of the citadel.
Tier 0: Transsentient
It is imagined that a civilization at tier 0 could accelerate evolution, create stars and destroy them, travel from one end of the galaxy to the next in a blink of an eye and travel from one galaxy to another in a matter of days. In theory this is a technological ceiling and there would be nothing greater than tier 0. Tier 0 would be considered a 'godlike' civilization that could erase life as easily as it could create it.
No current society is tier 0.
